Well finally got to put the Raptor on the bike.  The hardest part was getting it over the one cable (throttle cable?).  At first I was just muscling it, but took a sip of my beer, took a deep breathe and danced my way out of it.

All in all, wasn't too hard thanks to that video.

Now my problem.  The bike starts up, but dies instantly.  I did not fill up yet because I was afraid to take it out and have it die on me.  Brand new battery so it shouldn't be that.  Yes it is on "Fuel" or "On" or whatever that bottom one is.

The choke thing (I know it is not called that but I forgot what it was called) was all the way in.  I got it started, and held the throttle a bit and pulled the choke half way.  Stayed running for a bit so I took it down the driveway and back.  Whole time it was good, until I started to back up into the garage.  Died.

Started it up again with it in the middle, pulled it all the way out, died.

So.. any ideas on what it could be??  

Like I said, I pulled on that cable hard and when I first sat on the bike throttle was sticking and after few min went back to normal.  Can it be that?

Or does it need some time for the drained fuel to "get back" into the bike?   HELP!

Gas tank full.. Still dying at idle.. Angry

Went to the gas station with the choke in the middle..didn't die but very rough idle. Comin back with full tank it died on idle every time.

Oh and I forgot to mention that little bit of gas dripped out of the stock petcock.. Thought I had drained the fuel all the way but when I started unscrewing the petcock gas seeped out. Not sure if the dripping gas got onto something?

Have you plugged the vacuum port on the carb?  The place were the vacuum line used to attach?

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak that is letting air into the system that is not passing through the carb.  You have to use the fuel enrichment knob (choke) to make the mixture rich enough to compensate for the added air.

How would I go about troubleshooting this?

did ya take both clear tubes off the petcock?
your second picture shows the reseve tube uncovered but not the main tube...
have you tried to run it on reserve yet?
retrace your steps...it sounds like the vac port might not be sealed or it could be something you missed.

When i did mine i removed the tank and installed the raptor...it just seemed easier than trying to wiggle it in there with the tank on...

maybe drain the tank again, remove the tank from the bike and start at the begining again...

It only came with one clear tube over the main tube.  I did remove that before installing.  

I have ran with it on reserve once, but that's it.  But I'll try again.

What is the best way to seal the vac port??

Here is exactly what I did.

1) Drain tank
2) Remove vac hose from stock petcock
3) Unscrew the stock petcock (some fuel leak)
4) Remove petcock
5) Put in new petcock
6) Attached the hose going from petcock to carb
7) Put some clear silicone on the vac port and in the cap.  Put it on the port.  
8) Put the pet on off, fill the tank.
9) Checked the vac port.  Saw it didn't stay so applied some superglue to reinforce it.
10) Put pet on, started the bike.

I read somewhere that the gas cap may not be vented properly? Is that a common issue?

No leaks from what I can see - I did not put that much sealant actually IN the vac port.. just a lot in the cap.

sounds like you did everything okay but i'd check the vac port seal again...
i put a small screw in mine and then covered it with a rubber cab...3 years w/o a problem
try running on reserve and see if anything is different...shouldn't be but who knows?
also, turn the petcock off, pull the fuel line off the carb and grab a gas can to empty into, turn the petcock on/off to test fuel flow on all the settings...maybe the fuel line is pinched somewhere when you attach it to the carb?

There is a drain screw at the bottom of the carb, and a rubber hose is connected to it.  If you were to open the screw and run the fuel into a clear bottle....you could check that the flow is sufficient and that the fuel is clean.  Not sure of the amount of time it would take to flow 8 ounces of fuel - but the petcock alone takes 2 min 15 seconds to flow a gallon.  The carb needle and seat, and drain screw will flow slower....but you should be able to drain 8 oz of gas in 15 seconds.

This might confirm if you are getting fuel to the float bowl.

The tank vent problem is easy to identify......open the cap and see if th engine runs normal.  If you close the cap you will be able to ride several miles before enough of a vacuum builds up to cause a problem....the vacuum does not happen instantly.

I was thinking putting in a small nail or something in there but didn't  Angry I should have went with my gut feeling.  How can I get this cap off now that it's been sitting there with superglue?? Undecided

And I will try the fuel line.  THANKS!
