Belt Maintenance
07/31/13 at 20:16:40

Saw this on the daily tip section - any regular maintenance needed for the belt? When I had the chains I lubed it regularly and cleaned it once in a while. I tried searching but no luck (?)

Belt maintenance? Set the tension properly (finger method, check the tech board) and wash it occasionally if the brown it turns bothers you.

Other than that, ride it until it snaps. On the old forum, the first belt failure was at over 70K miles of daily use...

and everything that I do for the maintenance of the belt is sometimes fill  silicone spray.

I just busted my drive belt. What scares me is that the belt didnt look worn at all. Just broke at the base of a tooth. I fear though it may have been the orininal belt. Thinking of chain conversion now Angry

Bummer at this point in the season,, but, unless someone has a belt for cheap, Id switch to chain if that happened to me,
