Helmet Storage

Aside from the smell, is there a problem with long term storage of helmets in a cedar chest?

Pack them solid with newspaper or similar, they can distort if they are stored flat from their own weight. I have 3 helmets in the attic that I can't wear anymore for just that reason.

My reason for asking was it is the only spot left in the house to store them. I have every nook and cranny jammed with something but have an empty cedar chest.  Huh Since it is in the living room as a coffee table, I was also going to story my other daily bike things in there too.

They make great pellet gun targets. Impale its neck on a broomstick & poke it in the dirt. Duct tape around horizontally & verticaly , then stic some sticky targets on.
