Passenger seat more comfortable
07/25/13 at 21:27:22
My wife is riding with me more and more. But she's complaining more and more about her passenger seat.
How to make it more comfortable? Bigger? Cushy?
Thanks.

Get her a bike of her own or dump the Savage in favor of something designed for 2 up riding. If she's complaining, time to plant the seed of riding her own bike. It is pretty much impossible to make a Savage 2 up comfortable. Just not enough chassis to work with.

I think it depends on the size/weight of rider and passenger. my wife and I are on the smaller side. I'm 6' and 125lbs. she's 5'8" and about 105lbs. so with us the Savage does fine.
My wife's complaint is the width of the seat and the lack of support on the back(granted my wife does have pain and back issues already). What I did was order a pad from Amazon. It was around 20-25 bucks. pretty thick and an extra inch width. With the pad thrown on when the wife's riding, no complaints as far as seat comfort. (still have to work on a taller sissy bar)
But you might try something like that. There are several pads, gels, and covers for passenger seats. Google and Amazon.
I also found a full replacement for around $230 that was a pillow or gel cushion top. Looked comfy but way too much for the amount of time she's on it.
Also: check your shock setting. make sure they aren't too stiff or too soft. Mine was comfortable when I got it so I have no clue what setting its on.

I saw this somewhere but don't remember where...
A tube of material about 12" diameter (probably more)
and two 3" diameter pvc tubes
drape the tube of material over the seat, place the 2 plastic tubes inside the tube of material and on either side of the seat
I would probably replace the pvc tubes with a pool noodle for something a little softer.

I'm 5'11" and 240lbs. She's "normal" 5'9" and a little bit over 130lbs.
I know it's "time" for bigger bike but right now no money

I'm gonna do some research. Thanks.
