lawnmower question

Speaking of Lawnmowers, I was working on mine today, and I have a question if you don't mind. The blade belt was going for a long time ,and I bought a replacement belt about 10 years ago. I kept the belt in the garage in a bag till today, when I finally put it on. My question is, can a belt sit around that long ( not in the sun) and still be in good shape ,or will it have dried out or something ? Seems like its ok . Thanks!

i'd say it's good for a really long time unless it's in the sun or oily.  I'be known some REALLY old belts on farm equipment. 10 years in the garage is no problem

Belt on my truck is from the 1960s... Engine is from the 1940s.

The newer belts aren't as good, but it should still be viable.
