Because the factory tire is an anomaly, doesn't fit very many models besides the Savage/S40. Pretty low production runs.

Just get a 140/90-15, the speedometer will be closer to accurate, the choices are much better, the tires are usually cheaper...

Want hard to find? It should have shipped with a 130/90-15...http://www.bikebandit.com/130-90-15-street-motorcycle-tires/n1348-4294966307-...

Well I got the Metzeler - ME 880 Marathon as I liked the rain rating, which is very important here where I live, and as a daily commuter I think it will be a wiser purchase. I talked to the "preferred" installer, who I can swing by after work next week and he'll put it on, w/ new tube, balance, etc, $75. They are shipping directly to him......AND, I earned some SUPER bucks too, now I have to buy more stuff  Grin

BTW, they had the 140/80 15 too, so I don't need to worry bout rub, WHICH....means I can have TWO bowls of ice cream now   Kiss

What size tires should you get,if you don't want to have to adust your shocks or anything ? If you get the same sizes as the stock tires in other brands ,are they the same size basicly?

Ive never had the stock size after it wore out. The Dunlop 140/90 has never caused me any hassles & did get the speedo better & is a bit taller, so, ya get just a few bits of a foot further down the road when it roills once,,
I understand someone in the Pacific NorthWET wanting the best wet weather tire, I chose the Dunlop in East Texas, but, if I was gonna put another on, Id give the Metzler a try,,

Had a Dunlop 404 on the Vulcan 800A and a Dunlop Qualifier on Lisa's 800 Intruder. They handle the PNW's wet weather just fine. The old Cheng Shin on the Savage handles the wet fine as well, it's an old Metzeler tread pattern.

Swapped the Dunlop on Lisa's bike for a Kenda 130/90-15, it handled Seattle area rain fine as well.

Any tire that will fit a Suzuki 800 Intruder rear wheel is perfect for the Savage. I just like the slightly better handling of a 90/90-19 x 130/90-15 combo better. And on the Intruder with its 80/90-21 front, the 130/90-15 is even better.

With the Dunlap 140/90, do you have to adjust your shocks?
