It's tire time

The tires on my bike are officially shot. What are you all running size/brand and where did you get them? What  brands do I need to stay away from? I assume only tube tires for the stock rims.  Thanks

There aren't hardly any bad brands of tire...
Best to buy based on how much you ride... get a tire that you will wear out in 3 to 5 years... that way it won't dry out...
You can use tube or tubeless rated tires,... but you will need a tube in them...
Get a 90' tire valve on your rear tube,... have it installed pointing to the brake side... that will make airing up easier...

I have used Dunlop 404's, and currently have a Shinko712 on the rear,... Kenda Cruz on the front...

Get Metzler's if you ride over 10k miles per year...
Otherwise, go cheaper...

Ditto on mileage mattering.  New tubes and rim strips is cheap insurance.

I have Michelin Commander and they are not good on gravel roads. On asphalt they are nice.

I have compared prices everywhere and if you have a Pro Caliber close by check them out. They have no markup on tires. I bought a Dunlop 404 and I think I paid $120 for tire and mounting and balancing. Great tire with lots of wear.

You mean this one?   Nobody but me ever updated their tire, so it kinda lost it's purpose along the years .....

I can use a tube in a tubeless tire? That would make it a lot easier. Thanks for the tip on the valve stem.

Put a Shinko712 on the rear. Got it for $95 installed with new tube at a local shop.

Ayyyup,, A tubeless tire WILL hold air w/o a tube, on a rim so designed.
They dont explode like a car goin off a cliff in a 60's B movie if ya slap a tube in them & mount them on a leaky, spoked, rim

Motorycle Superstore is having a tire sale.  Here is the discount coupons they sent me:

http://view.exacttarget.com/?j=fe641772746d047d711c&m=ff041575746606&ls=fdf91...

They have free shipping for orders over $ 100 - but I have to ship them to a friend in Ohio as they recently opened an outlet in KY.....and now they charge me sales tax if I ship to my home.
