He predicted the future and was almost dead on it. He was smarter than a lot of people give him credit for. When he froze prices and salaries it was to keep the oil companies from taking advantage of us. He knew the gas shortage was fake.

Well, he created the gas shortage, the way I understand it, to fight a commodity market corner attempt by OPEC. I grew up in a farming community and they had gas to burn off, which they sometimes needed to do. You can only plow and tractor soo much before you have a huge store of volatile fuel.
