Our pipes blue if the mixture is too rich, too lean, or just right. Our pipes blue if we idle for more than a nanosecond. They also blue if the weather is hot or cold. I guess what I am trying to say is even if you clean it up, it will be back.

It shouldn't... 4 steel philips head screws that you throw away and replace with stainless steel allen head versions. They are cheap. 2 hollow brass screws inside the carb body, come out with a flathead screwdriver, or if they are really stuck/rotten, a small easy-out. Couple bucks per jet from Harley Davidson, you need the Mikuni large round style (HD usually has them, Suzuki usually has to order them).

Nothing to it unless you decide to monkey with the white spacer, air jets (don't bother, it's a CV carb, they suck), needle clip and spring positions...

Air/fuel mix screw and the jets above the float are simple, anything in the top end of the carb, leave alone. Too easy to tear a slide diaphragm.

The main jets in the BS40 for the savage is large round for the main. Thats what came in mine. The small round may screw in there but I was told on this form to use the large round. And they matched what was in there.

Can it be polished off/out? totally normal mines got 21k on it and I just cleaned it this spring, nothing to worry over ive ridden about 4k since and hasnt turned gold like it was yet
