Depends on which model of tire from which manufacturer, and whether or not the goo was poured into a properly warmed and prepped mold... etc. The rim width is already maxed out at a 100/90, really should have shipped factory fit with 90/90. Can you safely run a 110? Maybe...

When I bought my bike last year, it had a brand new 110 on it. The front fender was missing also. At the time, I didn't know that some 110's would not fit in the fender. I've had no problems with ride or handling with the bigger tire. It does feel a bit 'heavy' to turn quickly sometimes. Most of my riding, I never notice it though.

A 110 got put on my '02 Savage by mistake. I ordered it over the phone, and it must have been garbled.

This is a Metzler, and it does NOT fit very well. The wheel mounted OK, and did not rub at the time. My first clue was the smell of burning rubber at about 60 mph when it rubbed the fender.

I enlarged the mounting holes for the fender so I could lift it a bit.

As far as handling goes, I don't notice much (if any) difference between that bike and my other one, which has a 100 Metzler.
I would probably have to ride one for a ways, then get on the other one immediately afterwards to tell.

A bigger concern is the clearance between the tire and fender if you pick up a rock. It is more likely to get wedged in the fender and put a nice groove in your tire. You can ask me how I know, but I won't answer. Lips Sealed

I have heard the same thing.

It's definitely true. I have a 130 on my KLR650 and the steering is slower and heavier.
Does anyone have a tire they know fits? At the moment all we have is youzguyz has a Metzeler that doesn't.

A couple of years ago I ordered a 110 Kenda Challenger by mistake. Decided to just put it on and run it. The fender DID NOT fit back on, so I raised it with homemade brackets, just two 1" x 2" pieces of 1/4 flat stock.

Result: I preferred the look of the slightly larger and fatter tire on front.

handling suffered slightly, was barely noticable. I ran it for over 10,000 miles.

I have a 100 back on now, just put it on this spring. I noticed the improved handling on my first ride, but it wasn't a huge difference.

When this tire wears out i will have to decide whether to order a 100 or 110 I'm still not used to seeing the small tire on the front

Bridgestone, NO. Dunlop 401, 402 and 404, MAYBE. Kenda, NO. Knobbies, HELL NO, regardless of brand, if you want a street knobby, get a 2.50/2.75-19. Avon, MAYBE, depends on tire model, Speedmaster is iffy.

Above assumes you plan to run the stock fender as issued. Pull the fender and grind off the mounting lugs and you gain a lot of room, but, you are still faced with a narrow rim.

I did stuff a 4.00-19 (on a different rim) into my forks, it fit, sort of, but the side knobbies (old TT tire) made contact with hard parts. A 3.50-19 street knobby/TT tire would be okay if you ran fenderless or with a triple tree mounted fender. But you'd still want a wider hoop to fully use the tire.

What tire did you want to run?

First 2 are only $4 and $6 more respectively for the larger size. Can't figure why the last one has a $19 differential though. I like more rubber on the road if possible and it if doesn't affect handling appreciably. Am not haulin ass anywhere anyway.
