Riding 40 - 55 mph the temperature runs betwen 265 and 270. When I hold a sustained 65 mph I get up to 290, sustainted 70 gets close to 300. High speeed makes more heat!
I would guess that both sides of the engine would be about the same temperature - but maybe the right side heat sheild keeps your boot farther away on the right side.
Well this is definitely true, the right side is much further from the case.. but of course is sitting next to the exhaust. I expect a certain amount of heat from there. Still, the left side, which normally stays tucked right up to the case was much much hotter than the right.
I guess at this point I will chalk it up to the fact that my normal ride is 20 minutes at a max of 50mph... but mostly 35 -40, and I am just not use to little bike getting an extended workout.
thanks all.
PS: as to the temp gauge... I am still thinking on what I want to do. I really wouldn't mind getting the whole thing.. Vapor gauge set. But I just have not decided yet. I like the analog speedo and tach as far as looks.
