Electrical issue... 2 days to figure it out!
06/22/13 at 12:29:04

Hi guys, so I'm going to BornFree (Austin > California) on Tuesday... huge trip!

I decided to chop off my back turn signals (aftermarket dual filament) last night...
both bulbs were broken, and I couldn't get the lid off to change them... decided to cut them off for now, deal with a new set later.

Well, I cut them off (red/black/ground)... and I realized I did it with the battery hooked up... now I have no power.

I didn't reattach the (homemade/spliced) ground because I figured the signals were no longer pulling power...
but now I'm thinking that's just wrong... so I reattach the ground to the fender, and still nothing... now I'm worried.

I'm trickle charging the battery right now... but I'm a little lost as to what the problem may be...
should I splice the red/black together for each signal (remember, it's dual filament) and close the loop?

I'm not great with electrical, but can usually figure it out...
problem is I'm running out of time!!!

Any suggestions?? Thx!!

You "cut" them?... instead of just disconnecting?...
You probably made a short... check your fuses... 1 is blown...

Aaaaaand, of course... changed the fuse, now it works! *palm/face*
Thank you for pointing out the basics.

But yes, I cut them... the wiring is all custom, it's been housed/wrapped/taped along the underside of the fender...
the source splice is deep in the wrapping, would require a lot of undoing.

I wasn't intending to use the same signals anyway...
rough roads in Austin (normal bulbs last a couple weeks if I'm lucky)...
so it was easiest to just snip/unbolt.

Figures tho, I needed a panic attack right about now. Smiley
Thanks again for the level head!!!!!!
