I posted this on Volusiariders.com but I'm short on time so I'll ask here also.
[QUOTE=Paraquat;2376153]Hi guys. A friend invited me out to Rhode Island tomorrow. I started reading about their laws here:
http://www.americanmotorcyclist.com/rights/State-Laws.aspx?stateid=39</a>Now I am left with some questions...
1) how strict are they with that exhaust db rating and/or muffler law?
I have the Morton Violators which clearly end at my right heel and do not incorporate a muffler. While I'm sure they are just as illegal here in CT I've never been given a second look. I don't want out of state trouble.
2) no headphones or bike speakers. Really? My interpretation is just the possession of speakers. For headphones how can they tell under a helmet? How seriously do they enforce that, if at all?
3) 75k insurance coverage. Is that for residents only? Pretty sure my coverage doesn't go up that high. I only had the minimum on my Savage because I figured if I crashed I'd be dead and wouldn't have to deal with the consequences. I needed full coverage in the c50 because I financed it but I'm not sure it's 75k.
4) Accept motorcycle endorsements from other states: no.
Does that mean they won't honor my CT license or that I can't take a training course out of state and attempt to get a motorcycle license in RI?
I'll take any advice I can get because due to my expert planning we should be leaving at 10AM...
