Emgo muffler clamp help

I have the Ryca Emgo muffler and angle adapter. I am trying
to clamp the coupler to the header using a T-bolt
Clamp from ryca and it won't tighten to the header enough. I have 2 layers of shims between the coupler and the clamp.
I tightened it down as much as I could, still with threads on the clamp...and I could still pull the coupler off by hand. When I tried to loosen the clamp, the threads snapped.

Any suggestions on clamps/shims that tighten everything up?

I just installed a Ryco adapter on my header pipe and it was so tight I had to drive it on with a rawhide mallet. Are you using the right end. The short one inch end goes on the header. Heck, I guess you are as the other end will not go over the header pipe. Mine will not leak without the clamp.

Im going to try to make a few slits in the coupler that will let it move/clamp a little more, hopefully it seals better?

Tried to clamp the coupler down tonight and I broke another t-bolt clamp....this time not at the threads, but where the threaded part hooks into the clamp. I have better luck tightening things up using the clamps that the muffler came with for some reason.

The stainless bolts and stainless nuts gall and lock onto each other. The result is that the nuts become locked onto the threaded bolt....and then you break them off.
