Can't get the right sound
06/13/13 at 19:43:50
I'm really enjoying my 2007 S40,but cant get the sound right.
Stock sounds like a sewing machine.Had Jardine put on,but got on my nerves after time.I had my man tinker with it,wrapped it inside(still loud)
he baffled it,drilled holes etc.Sounds better but not great.
Is the dyna the way to go(if I can find one),or are there any other options?
I really dig the bike so money is not an issue.(the lame sound is making me start to think about a new bike,Sportster or perhaps Bolt)the bigger Suzuki is too big for me,C50 I think.
Thx.

IMHO, if you like the S40, there is no reason to buy another bike just for the sound. I was well pleased with the Dyna. You can get them for 30 or 40 bucks plus a few more bucks for an adaptor and a clamp.
There is a link somewhere on the site with audio files of different mufflers. Run a search and see if it comes up.
Good hunting

The blue collar bobbers muffler has an awesome sound. Loud and deep but not obnoxious like the jardine.

A Harley muffler will get your a nice mellow sound...
... but,... If you're expecting it to sound like a Harley,... you'll need an extra cylinder...
This is a single.... putt,.. putt,.. putt,...
Not,.. potato,.. potato...

I love the sound of the Dyna with the longer intermediate pipe, went from sewing machine to sounding more like a Royal Enfield

There are many reasons i want to keep it.I like the big single, its fun to ride and inspires confidence in a newer rider(been riding a year or so)
Im a small guy,it fits me perfect.I do however get blown around on the highway.
I thought maybe there are other exhaust options made for the S40.all my searching came up with the Jardine as the only real upgrade for the 2007 model.
Thanks for the feedback,Ill give the Dyna a shot.
