Hello everyone,
I am looking for someone in CT who can show me how to do a few things. I am willing to pay for the time required for helping me out!
I cannot figure out how to do the following things based on references to my Clymer's Manual and this forum, as I am mostly a visual learner.
I need help with:
-Automatic Decompression Cable Adjustment
-Valve Clearance Measurement and Adjustment
-Compression Test
-Cam Chain Adjuster Check
-Clutch Adjustment
I know this is a shot in the dark, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
-Barrett

Hi,
I'm in Norwalk and also new to all of this. If you find someone perhaps the 3 of us could meet up and learn.

You could Skype with someone, I'd be willing to do that. A couple of us have been very informally talking about webcasting a live wrenching session.

Yeah that would be great. Let me know if you find any local help before I do

Yes, this sounds like a great idea. Let me know what day/time works for you and hopefully we can set something up. Much appreciated.

I know it's not the same, but have you looked at the Savage companion? It has more pictures than you could ask for, and is available for free here on the site.

Well, on several sites folks do get togethers and have wrenching sessions, of course you have to find someone knowledgeable in the area that has a garage or tools you will need.
Sounds like your on th right track allready

I for one would totally subscribe to this! While the help videos on youtube and such are great, an interactive session would be killer!
If you did a session on say, Valve clearance adjustment, you could let everyone know what tools and parts to have ready ahead of time and everyone could do it together their first time. It would be revolutionary and invaluable!
You could start out with something really easy like "Fluid and Filter Changing 101".
The video sessions could then be posted to youtube or some other site as an archive.
GREAT IDEA! Hope it becomes reality.

One to One's sessions can be done free on Skype.
But for group video conferencing... someone has to have a premium account.
Then they can link in up to 19 non-premium users.

And, if I remember correctly, it's about $4 per month. I will look into it.

I haven't wrenched in years. but in the past I always found that the most important thing to do is buy an actual service manual - they cost more than Clymer, Haynes, other generics, and you may need those for less technical instruction, but the factory schematics were worth the extra cost to me.

Anyone who is capable and doing any of the "General Maintenance" can make a video and post it up to share. For any of the threads in the maintenance area we can just add links to the videos as part of the tutorial as they get done.

I'm not sure the skills required for General Maintenance on a motorcycle tranfer to the Audio/Visual/Webcast technology sector
I can do my own maintenance because it doesn't involve circuit boards and uploads and complicated software.
Also, with Skype, people can ask questions and interact.
