Help with Confusion
06/09/13 at 21:14:11

So we bought a 98 suzuki savage off of Craigslist. Guy said he could not get it to run.  We cleaned up the carb found out the the bowl drain screw was replaced with one too long. Fixed that issue, replaced petcock with raptor and got it to run but there was no air filter box. Got it running and it blew the ballast out of the exhaust but it was running. Found a post on here about making an intake and followed it. Here is where it gets confusing. Put the intake on and it won't run at all. Take it off it fires right up.  Bought the original air box and put it on and it will start up but not run and only will fire off once every couple of hours.  Also replaced the spark plug.  Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions as to where I should try next.  Have gone through all topics on jetting and adjustments and still stuck.

Well,, youre gonna have to give us details. WE arent there. Cant hear it or see it, so, you need to be the eyes & ears. While it was running for 5 minutes, HOw was it acting?
Do you have a small battery charger? Volt meter?
Tank got enough gas?
YOu set it on Prime?
YOu gotta be descriptive for us. Pretend youre writing a script for a radio show. Consider how thats done. DEtails to bring the listener in..

If that was a line in a movie from the 40's or 50's the next advice would be to slap her & shake her out of it,, That stuff dont fly today.,..
