Had the Savage dyno'd today

A local repair/speed shop was having a grand opening kinda thing and had the dyno plus print out for $30 plus a discount if you bought anything. I was thrilled to see that I didn't hurt my bike's performance with all the screwing around I did! I have the print out for HP, torque, and air-fuel ratio. They are supposed to be emailing me a copy later today. For now, I will post the scans.

My bike has a K&N drop in air filter, a NOS HD fishtail muffler, and the carb was rejetted. The top chart shows a max of 31hp and 43 ft-lbs torque. Since the torque has a weird peak at an ungodly high RPM, I would say the real number is around 35 ft-lbs. The line that starts high and goes down is torque. The other is horsepower. The second chart is the air to fuel ratio. The dashed line is optimum. The middle line is the AFR and the top line is the hp overlay. My line is on the lean side of optimum. It isn't bad though. It leans out more at higher rpm and upper highway speeds. I don't know if I am going to worry about it or not.

You're between 14 and 13, optimum is 14.5

I'd say you're perfect.

How's the gas mileage?

Depending on how hard I beat it, it is usually between 48 and 52mpg. Even the lesser beating is nothing like driving old lady style.

Torque/HP always meet at 5250 rpm...  that's how it's calculated...
I guess that is 70mph in top gear... (don't know why some Dyno's measure in Mph instead of Rpm's)...

It don't mean best mpg...
I've gotten my best mpg  at 35 to 45mph... mostly in 4th gear... on my Mt rides... (in the 70 mpg range, averaging both the climb and descent)...

It is easier to measure in MPH than to measure RPM, since the dyno "knows" how fast its drum is turning and doesn't have to care about gearing. Nor does there have to be any connection to the ignition system to measure MPH.

Air/Fuel ratios look pretty decent, except that they are only measured at wide-open throttle. That tells you the main jet is probably OK, along with air intake and plumbing. It tells you nothing about mid-range or pilot, since unless you make dyno runs at part-throttle those ranges are not checked.

I am not sure anymore. I believe I am running a 52.5 pilot and a 152.5 main jet. I didn't do the white spacer mod. Turns out on the screw? Your guess is as good as mine. I was fine tuning it last fall when the head stripped. I bought a new screw but never got it installed. I believe I started at 2.5 turns but don't know where I ended up.
