Stupid mistake, now backfire in acceleration.

I have a 1987 Savage with 22000 miles. I installed the Raptor Petcock a couple of days ago, new spark plug(Champion RA6HC), new oil(Rotella t6). No carb adjustments or mods. When I installed the petcock I forgot to plug the vaccuum line
and I rode on it for a little while, parked it, started it up again and it backfires like crazy when I accelerate and sustain speed, I plugged the line and I still does it. Do I need a carb rebuild? :'(

I forgot to block it and rode for about 20 miles no problems, the backfire started happening and I blocked it and it continues to backfire.

I think you still have a vacuum leak...I don't recommend you plug the line, especially with a bolt.....remove the vacuum hose and use a properly sized vacuum cap on the carb's vacuum fitting.

I forgot to mention....you might want to check the spark plug to see if it shows a white insulator tip (instead of tan or light brown)...this means a hot/lean condition and could be caused by a vacuum leak.

Spray wd40 around the vacuum ports. If the idle changes, its leakingf,.

The two lines coming off of the top of my Carburator are not drawing any air, are these vaccuum lines?

Ok, just so we're clear, when you rode it for 20 min with the vacuum line NOT plugged you had zero problems then shut the bike off. You started it back up and then it started to backfire? Or, did you ride it with the vacuum line NOT plugged and after 20 min it started to backfire so you shut it off and plugged the line. And now it continues to backfire? Oh, and is it backfiring from the exhaust, or is it popping out of the carb? I'd definitely take a look at the plug.

you may be confusing the two vent lines, and the vacuum line...

Rode fore 20 min without plugging the vaccuum line. Parked the bike for two minutes. Started the bike up and accelerated, started to backfire sporadically, definitly out of the pipe sounds like a gun going off. Parked it again, plugged the vaccuum line, still backfires out of the pipe. I replaced the spark plug with the Raptor so it still looks new.
