Ryca Progressive fork spacer

What length spacers are used with the Progressive fork springs sold by Ryca. Mine came with one 3.5" PVC spacer. Can't have just one, but Progressive says that's the way they are shipped and that you cut it down to size. But what size?

Well,, wouldnt you ask THEM that?
BUt, If I was shipping parts & one of them was a piece of PVC that was meant to be used to make 2 parts, Id PROBably send a piece that needs cut in half..
But,, I cant say what they do,,

Of course the first thing I did was to call Progressive, who had no idea what to do. Basically saying to use the included piece "as needed." I asked "what does that mean?" Their reply, "Every bike is different." Thanks a lot!

Does it help any to watch the RYCA assembly videos? They are pretty detailed.
Are you installing the spacers and lowereing the front end? At some point you will be limited as to how much spacer you can have.....as you will reach the limit of your ability to push the caps down by hand and get them threaded.
How much do you weigh? More weight requires more pre-load.

I did just the opposite- I installed 4" longer tubes with Progressive springs with my rake kit.
The general advice I could gather was- cut the spacers so the 1/4" to 1/2" protrude from the fork tubes to establish the proper preload.
As far as "how much do you weigh" goes- I weigh 250 and put a a little extra fork oil in, which helped.

There is one made by AME in Germany. You should be sitting down when you see the price, though. That said, the quality is superb. Each kit application is tested by the German government for safety as well.

I thought about it for 6 months before I finally dropped the dime. I am really glad I did. I bought the 9 deg kit with 4" longer forks.
This is mine.

I thought so too, until I saw the kit. The trees are solid steel, much stronger than stock. The bearings are much better than stock. The tubes are from Franks Forks, and are stock for a Virago. They too are stronger than the Suzy tubes as they are thicker walled.
In retrospect it was worth every penny, as it improved the handling on the highway considerably. The only downside is the increased turning radius, which is only a problem when you park.
