I agree with Dave. Stopping for fuel is all part of the fun.  Smiley

At this point in my life.....the tank empties at about the same rate my bladder fills.  Riding 100 miles before stopping works out fine for both the bike and me.

I do realize that there are some who ride in areas that don't always have a gas station at 100 mile intervals, and some extra fuel would be a good idea.  If you have a rack there is a flat fuel container that holds 1.5 gallons and can be mounted flat on a rack.....or they have a mount that will hold it vertcial.

Thats a cool idea. They would have to be paintable for me to buy one.

Yup, that's my yellow bike with the tour tank on the back Those tanks are v-e-r-y rugged. If you go through the maker's site you'll see some that have gone through bike flips and come up intact, if somewhat bent. The caps will leak if upside down or overfilled, at least the older one like I have does. but they may have since redesigned that. My main tank overflows on my leg if I over fill on a hot day too. And yes, it's a five gallon NightTrain for the front tank.

There's plenty of room to haul stuff. If you go to near the bottom of the BikePics page you'll see that yellow pack mule loaded to the max for one of the two 2.8k mile road trips I took a few years ago. And if you go to the bottom you'll see what a Savage looks like with the Vetter luggage off of a GS 850 mounted on it. I call it my Sav-Wing. Still working on getting it back on the road as of now as there are a couple minor electrical issues I need to iron out.

I am thinking about one of these:

I will probably think about it a lot harder the first time I run out of gas. Grin

Pity they won't ship other than the 48 continental USA...
One of these would fit very nicely in saddlebags  Smiley
