From amazon.com, 9,000lb tensile strength 530 chain $40, $25 rear sprock, $10 front sprock, $5 for a box of m2 4 flat wwshers...

still have a leftover conversion? i can't pm...what is approx price shipped to 32246? is anything required to modify/additional parts etc to be completely installed? sorry im a newb to savage world

Sprockets are a 17 front and 43 rear with a Heavy Duty 530 chain (7600 PSI tensile strength) and includes the necessary front sprocket spacer. The chain is cut to the proper length for a stock swingarm. The OEM pulley ratio is 2.96 and the Chain Drive Conversion ratio is 2.53. This lowers your top gear RPM by 580.

I'm curious to know how much your selling your chain conversion for? Also does your kit come with the front sprocket spacer? AKA=Complete?

NO modifications are needed to the swing arm except to bend the two belt guard mounting tabs out of the way to clear the chain as depicted in the pics on my web site. The spacers are needed to properly align the front sprocket with the rear one. The 17 tooth front sprocket and the 43 tooth rear yeild a 2,53 to 1 ratio which is 15% taller than stoch, lowers top gear RPM by 580 rpm. Example: RPM at 60 MPH with the stock belt drive (296 to 1 ) gives you 4000 RPM, with my 17/43 chain drive conversion the RPM at 60 MPH is 3420. Other ratios are available as a special order at the same price. 9600 psi O-ring chains are also available as a special order. As always, I ship FREE!

I have included a pic here of the kit installed on a Savage. the sprockets are 17/43. The chain is a non-o-ring 530 chain 7600 psi chain. As you can see there is ample clearance, a possible 18 tooth front sprocket is possible as some other members have indicated. the 17/43 sprocket set is a good compromise between lower top gear RPM economy and lower rider/engine stress. Go any taller with the gearing and a stock engine will require some clutch slipping to get under way from a stop in 1st gear. My engine is a fully built 700cc "Super Tumper" so I can still take off without any clutch slippage even in 2nd gear with my 2.53/1, 17/43 gearing. I would recommend a Barnett heavy Duty Clutch for anyone who needs to replace their clutch....MUCH better than stock!!

FYI...the Suzuki DR650 dirt bike puts out 46 HP and only uses a 525 chain so the 530 I use is enough to handle even a fully built "Suter Thumper" with NO problems....I have over 2000 miles on mine and only had to adjust the chain once!

You need to explore the Technical Section, there is a Table of Contents with links, and in that you can scan down to the rear suspension portion. There you will find a "How To" for the chain conversion.
