I started this thread on my Meetup group. I am curious what it is for my Savage friends as well.

If you could choose only one thing that makes your ride more comfortable and enjoyable, what would it be? I have added a windshield, rider's backrest, different handlebars, etc. (as have many of you) which all contributed to a more comfortable, safer, and enjoyable ride for me. However the one thing that makes the biggest difference in my riding is earplugs. I can still hear traffic and conversations so I am not deaf to the world, but the wind noise is dramatically decreased. That decrease, for me anyway, makes my ride so much better. I don't know if it is the frequency of the wind noise, the level of the wind noise, or the feeling that the sound makes it seem like I am traveling 3X my rate of speed, but I arrive at my destination much more relaxed and can travel longer without fatigue. The ear plugs make the same difference to me whether I am wearing my half, 3/4, or full face helmet. (I actually get the most wind noise in my 3/4 helmet). I tried a bunch of different ear plugs until I found some that fit comfortably and are washable/reusable.

Is there anything that does the same for you?

The thing that made a huge difference for me was the addition of the corbin seat. All day comfort. Never a thought of "when are we gonna stop? my tushy is killing me".

On a similar note, The mustang seat i added to my C50 was also a great improvement.

Knowing that I have rain gear in my saddle bags and laughing at all of my Harley buddies that are to vain to wear them!

Dane, our tanks hold 2.8 gallons with .6 gallons after reserve (Non Raptors). Hence your 2.2 gal calculation? Do you know how long it's been since I used the word "hence"? Me either.

I TOOK time Thursday to enjoy 76 degree weather and sun after riding about 50% less this year. Took a quiet route and rode about 25 miles to a quiet picnic table at a burger joint where you get grease down your wrists if you're not careful. Cheeseburger, fries, Dr P, $5. Asked the girl there if I could drive her Camaro SS with 180 on the speedometer. She laughed and said' "No, but it'll do it." Rode back and took a 14 mile side trip to see an old (82 yr old) friend who can't ride with me anymore. His wife has Alzheimer's. Knowing I will have a Birmingham type hip replacement in June and off the bike for at least a month made it a great day. Looking forward to being able to ride more later made it great, also. I feel alone and serene even when riding with a partner, which I rarely do.        

Not one thing, but when these come together, it is a truly enjoyable ride.

I'm ridding on a modified Harley Soft-tail seat.  but the feelings is the same !



Fast enough to stay in High gear and slow enough that the wind is not a bother  

Having bounced many large rocks off me noggin', I can't see riding w/out either.  And oi those bugs would bug me too.  If I couldn't wear a helmet, I'd have a big windshield and I wouldn't enjoy that.
