Rear fender/seat bag recommendation
05/16/13 at 12:11:56

Would like to use the bike more for work, but i need to be able to transport stuff from place to place. doesnt need to be too big, biggest thing i would be moving is probably the size of a landline phone.

Trying to find something decently cheap and looks good on the back. Any ideas?

I got a cheap backpack @ Wally Wurld, put some D rings on it & tied it on the side. It comes off to take the stuff in the house,,
Pretty? Nope, not really, but functional & cheap & hauls a good load.

W-M sells a m/c backpack that has a pouch to fit over a sissy bar & cinches to tighten it up. About $30 & mine is still useable after 3 years. Cool

i used to bungee a backpack on with a bungee net from bike bandit, worked pretty well,  but i finally realized it's a lot easier to just wear the backpack.  I have an old canvas mil surplus one that's indestructible.  I loosened the straps enough that the weighit rests on the seat - straps just keep it attached to me

Ya, keep coming back to the idea of just getting a back pack. How is it while riding? never tried it before

I wear a photo backpack. I don't even know it's there. I think getting a backpack to wear is your best and cheapest idea. You can always keep looking if it doesn't suit.

Mine is a decent sized pack - little bit bigger than the kids' bookbags.  No problems with riding.  I have it on probably 75% of the time i'm riding since i commute whenever the weather is ok.

I built a set of bag brackets for my 250 and got a pair of used saddlemen bags at a pawn shop, the brackets that they sell cost over 100 bucks so I bent up some roundstock and welded nuts on it and bolted them right on, whole deal cost me 50 bucks! I hate riding with a backpack, its not for me. I love my saddlebags! Now I have to make up brackets for my savage and then mount them on this one

When I'm doing a light handyman job and only need a few tools I just throw my tool bag on the passenger seat and use one of my kayak tie down straps between the chrome fender rails and the fender, I've done this with a good sized backpack too  Wink

Just make sure none of the straps can come loose!! Either from the tie down or what ever you are tying down.
