Selling the harley, had an epiphany...

Yeah, something like that....well a couple of beers kinda lit up the lobes.... I'm selling my big ol' 2007 roadglide, I don't ever see me taking off the trike kit and riding it, so...i'm selling it.
On the back of the glide is a ultra tour pack that didn't come with the bike, I bought it from a fellow glider and put it on mine. Anyway, after a couple of drinks I came up with the idea to put this:

On this:

Of course i'd take off the recently added temp. sissy bar

I'm mounting a similar trunk I got on Amazon for $85 on my old Savage I'm reworking for my wife. She loves the one on our 950. I plan to add a mirror under the lid & some pouches & dividers so she can organize the things she uses for her work. Cool

I already have saddle bags that are great for the things like rain gear you only need occasionally but are a pita to refasten. Undecided

I mocked it up last week & it really didn't look as big as I thought it would. Even if it did though this is one time usefulness will outweigh looks just right. Shocked

One look at the rides of Eastern and Central Asia, South America, or Eastern Europe, will tell you...
We don't need the cubes we're packin'...

Load her up and ride... Wink...

I enjoy, boosting her up to 90+ for a squirt...
... and I can do 65  or 75 for a spell...
... but,... this bike gets unhappy at the same speed as me...
45 to 60mph... I'm a bird...
I'm gliding on spread wings...
I'm no longer lookin' for thrills...
I'm seeking Zen...
... and I'm in bliss... Smiley...

Cool  +1  Cool

My Savage is happy as a lark 45-55, will oblige and go up as far as 80 without a problem, but I see little point in pushing her to go where she wasn't designed to go.

10% longer gearing and 32" drag bars make her easy and comfy as I could ever wish, but anything beyond 70mph is honestly not her turf.

Cool

I would be a bit concerned about mounting this box and rack to the stock sissy bar mount.  The side rails just bolt to the fender....and don't tie into anything structural.....so basically the rear fender will be holding everything up.  The rack you have propped up on the the board goes much farther back, and will have a lot more leverage on the back rest and fender.  If you do something like this.....I do believe you need to investigate a way to provide more suport.
