I bought a set of inexpensive saddlebag supports off of eBay. Since I lowered my fender, the hardware of the OEM supports rubbed my tire. These things work well for me.

I don't think they are flimsy. With one mounting point I am sure they are not as sturdy as the stock ones, but I am not carrying a body.
