EarthX ETX12A Battery - Any reviews?
04/30/13 at 11:36:44

Hey everyone,

Trying to get rid of my big stock battery.

Going with either the Ballistic Evo2 8 cell,  or the EarthX ETX12A

The EarthX is a bit more expensive but is slightly more advanced in its charging (doesnt need a special charger, the ballistic one does)

Let me know what you think if you are using either of these batteries.

thanks

I have the EarthX battery...but have not used it yet.  I should have it ready to go in about a week.  I believe Gyrobob has used his.

Mine is installed on an FJR-1300 and it works well.  I will be buying two more,... one for the RYCA CS-1, and one for a gyrocopter.

well I purchased the EarthX over the Ballistic.

After more research, it seems a better option to get the EarthX as I would eventually need to spend another $70 on the ballistic for their special charger.

That would end up making the Ballistic more expensive than the EarthX.

darn battery took a nice chunk out of my bank account...err, visa.

But I am shaving off about 9 lbs and the new battery is less than half the size. Looking forward to it.

When you first open the box and take the battery out and hold it in your hand......You would swear that it is just a hollow case with nothing inside.  It is incredible how light the darn thing is!

their website states the weight at 1.67 lbs (0.76 kg)
I have not weighed my stock battery, but I can only guess that bad boy is at least 10-12 lbs.

Have been using it couple of weeks now... everything is working fine.

Some time, when needing a little more "starting" after cold night, it hesitate for 0,5 sec if it is going down.... but no... it has worked well.

Mine does that too. Sometimes when cold it hesitates for a millisecond, turns slowly then fires up. The CCA are a little low but to increase the CCA you need to go up in Batt size.
I hope it copes with the 97mm high comp piston i'm putting in. Embarrassed

Has anybody considered the Battery Tender brand lithium batteries?

http://sepbatteries.com/battery-tender-btl14a240c-lithium-iron-phosphate-battery

http://sepbatteries.com/battery-tender-7-9a-lithium-iron-phosphate-battery

Do they have the same overcharge and cell-balancing technology as the EarthX batteries? Huh
