Rear brake pedal returning spring problem.
04/25/13 at 20:06:04
I just installed a nice set of 6" routy forwards, what an awesome improvement in riding position!
Only problem is, on the brake pedal, there is a spring, and i don't know how to tension it back to get my spring pedal working well..
My brakes were ok and now i don't have any rear braking at all..
Any pictures or detailed solution for that ?

You still got the spring on the brake arm at the drum?

Sorry I don't have a set of routy's forwards, but on the stock mounts the one end of the spring is "hook" shaped. The hook goes over the brake pedal "arm". The other end is relatively straight and held upwards and tensioned by the forward bolt (towards the front tire) on the stock foot controls. I'm certain routy provided a way to keep tension on the spring. I'm just not sure how. I know from my own experience on the stock mounts if the spring end is under the bolt the pedal wont snap back. Above the bolt it works great. Look for a similar solution...

If no one else has specifics...
I'm sure Routy will be here to tell you soon (next time he checks in)...
That pedal spring has to be under decent tension, to hold the foot lever up...
...(PS... anyway,.. I'm glad they arrived... Hope they work well for you)...

Dang they're awesome, thanks !! The new position is amazing, and the kit is perfect bolt-on! Hope that routy will provide me info on that one tho !

IIRC you put the spring on the peddle first then put the tang end of the spring under the height adjustment bolt part then slide the peddle assemble over the peg that it rides on. It's kinda tricky to get it all on just right as I had the cable and all attached when I did it, but got it all working just right.
