I think that Sporty will buff right out!  Cheesy

I wont jump on a helmet soapbox.
People are going to do what they want.....& they should.
No one will read a post on this forum about helmets & go, "holy nuts!
You're right, I should do XYZ in terms of a helmet!"

No one.

Now if there's a jetting, or tire, or battery question.....they'll jump all over that bandwagon. But they know all about landing on their head. (Most of whom, thankfully, never have!)

Now go to a racing oriented forum, where safety gear is put to the absolute test.....& people listen as if its jetting or tire info. (Now tire info is a differently hotly debated topic, there! Lol)

It's practically sad to me, however, when people wear an open face helmet.
Logic, & statistics dictate what you will impact first in a collision.

Do what you do.......& ride on.

Yup,.. I started this post, to point out a pretty good bargain on a FF helmet...
My accident, would have hurt my face pretty bad,... but, I was inside that helmet... and it really wasn't an impact to the helmet... just a glancing blow across the faceshield...
This didn't hurt the "helmet" portion at all... just the faceshield and lower air vent...  (if it had been my tender flesh, I'm sure there would have been stitches, and scarring, and maybe some reduction in noseical dimension )... but, it was purely a slide, contacting the shield...
...(something of a facial surf)... Grin...
Helmet fully in tact...
The real impact was to my left side, mostly shoulder, ribs, and hip... then I was thrown a bit, and slid, with the facial contact...
If I weren't sure, I'd have replaced it... but it was only a few weeks old, and it got a new shield, and a tiiny touch-up paint (that made fangs), on the lower air vent... I love the fangs, and they just came up accidentally from the touch-up...

... but,.. it is getting "long in the tooth" at this point...
Helmet is about 3 years old now...
I'll be on the hunt... soon...

My face is nothing to brag about,.. but, it could be worse...
I'll protect what I've got...

The lesson is... skin can't take even the gentlest contact with rolling pavement... that stuff just don't budge...
...even a pie plate, between your face and the asphalt would make a huge difference in the rest of your life...if you are going to slide a few feet...
You just can't be that fast with a pie plate...
Grin...

The brain bucket, just didn't enter the equation in this crash...

...Non FF fans...
If you could imagine,.. just for second,... even just running as fast as you can... then diving down, and using your face as a brake on the asphalt,...
You're seeing the lucky side of a bike wreck...
It happens very, very fast... (replays are in slow-mo, and they go on for weeks)...
I'm glad I had my face covered...

I'm still a fan of the 3/4.  My main reason is peripheral vision that is so much better than with a FF.
As a pilot, I spent years wearing the standard issue 3/4 type military helmet with a full visor over the face when desired, as they can be pulled down over the face, or pushed up to expose the face.
The reason the military uses 3/4 is vision, and peripheral vision primarily.
You can't avoid the accident that you can't see.

My FF gives me the same peripheral vision as any 3/4 helmet I've ever owned  Wink

oh, the die hards will always have some reason! Lol
While true, that you can't avoid what you can't see.....what percentage of times do you think you'll "avoid" it? What about the course that your avoiding actions take you on? Yeah, maybe you avoided impact, but now you're headed at XYZ.
If more peripheral was needed, or you could really benefit from it, companies would be implementing it! A company like Arai or Shuberth or
Shoei doesn't make helmets year after year the same.....there is serious R&D that is being tried all the time. & chances are, that if you caught it in your peripheral that is close, & you wouldn't avoid it.

Not just my $.02, but an entire industry's.

I tried a Shoei that limited my vision... ,but a fish could use my HJC...
Try them on,... many have the same view range as a 3/4...

Yes, some are better than others, for sure!
At one point, about 10 years ago, I had a chance to pick up
some "sponsorship" from Suomy. I tried them, & turned them down.
Are they a "bad" helmet? Hell no! They make top notch stuff!
Best paint/graphics in the biz! Great vision opening.....but it just wasnt comfortable!
It just didn't fit my dome! To the point it was uncomfortable.
Not comfy? Can't wear......sorry.

I impact tested an HJC modular. Dented the cab corner of a small pickup. Folded in enough to split a lip. 2 stitches worth. The latch held & still worked. The strap was pressed into my throat so hard I was still feeling it when I swallowed about 3 weeks later. I went & got another one,, because I trust them. & Im not about to use one after such a whoopin,.
