Question about the carb
04/19/13 at 12:47:49

Hi guys. This is my first post that asks a question.
Right here goes. What are the 2 pipes coming out of the carb and run along the frame towards the air intake. They look like vacuum pipes but do not connect anywhere. One on each side of the carb going backwards.

Those aren't vac lines,.. they're vent tubes... they don't connect to anything...
Route them like this... Wink...

Thanks for that reply. That makes a bit more sense, although not too sure what they actually do.

They vent the float bowl so pressure (or vacuum) does not build up and interfere with the gas level in the float bowl.

Why not just vent in onto the ground and not into the airbox? When mine started venting my airbox filled up with gas...to me that was kinda dangerous.

those tubes aren't supposed to vent into the airbox,  they go above and to the front, most of the time they are put into the wishbone tube under the fuel tank, that way no fuel ever comes out only air

Too true. Have to get to know the bike first. That's why I asked the question. Here in the UK we do things a little different. Some of us guys get the bike to look really nice first and understand all there is know about the bike, then go riding. Had the bike for 1 year and I have been collecting parts that need replacing. Also checking out for safety. I am really glad I can ask questions on here and they get answered, it helps, a lot. Thanks guys!.
