New Speedo wiring help
04/18/13 at 16:28:54

I am installing the speedo that toes nose is running, but while wiring it in I noticed that there is a blue and orange wire coming from the neutral light. Are one of those positive and one ground ?   Undecided

Why are you wiring this to the neutral light?

I am not using anything on the old instrument cluster and the new handlebar mount speedometer only has one wire for the neutral light. I am using the original connector that I cut off the old cluster to wire the new speedo in and the old cluster has a blue and orange wire for the neutral light while the new speedo only has one wire for the neutral light. So I was thinking one of those wires might be a ground, but neither of them are marked with a black stripe or any lettering that might indicate if one of them is a ground ?

I don't have the wiring diagram infront of me ATM, all I did as far as the speedo and dummy lights was use the same wires and just extend them.

*Wires that went to light up the stock speedo to the light on the new speedo.
*High beam indicator wires to High beam indicator on new speedo.
*Nuetral to Nuetral
*the only thing I did different which we talked about was I used the "Low Oil" light on the new speedo as my left turn signal and the "Turn signal left on" light as the right turn signal, since I wasn't going to wire up a "low oil or high oil temp" sender it worked out better that way for me  Wink

That's what I did, I used all the wires for their purposes, but on my 2005 speedo the neutral wires coming from the back of the original speedo were orange and blue and there is only one wire coming of the new speedo for the new neutral light.

you tied the neutral lights ground wire into all the others into one ground wire.  the ground wire for the neutral light from your new speedo is the green with black strip.
