the only disagreement I have with this vid is that the Harley, hands down, has the best fit and finish and colors available

And the exhaust on the Harley looks light years better than that monstrosity on the Bolt.

Harley for me, no contest. That tail light on the Bolt looks awful. I'm sure the Bolt will be a good bike but won't sway many Harley riders.

That is a good point, I wonder who the target market is, probably not Harley owners. The price point looks to be a 2-3 grand less so maybe they are looking for those who accept the faux Harley look with a slight to moderate discount.

The S40 has completely changed my attitude towards motorcycles, I am not looking for butt jewelry (love that phrase whoever said) but for the quality of the ride and reliability.

they are marketing it towards beginner riders where the $8000 price point is their top to spend and to those that just naturally rebel against the accountant/lawyer/doctor old man vibe the Harley's are all about these days.  Grin

It seems as if Harley has taken over corvette as the choice of middle aged men facing a mid-life crisis!  Grin

The Harley dealership here doesn't list the prices, you have to call and I didn't but the last time I went in there, 6 months ago, I recall the 883 being $9,900...I must have been looking at 1200s

a lot of dealerships do automatic add-ons, like mufflers and bling stuff that they think their customers want anyway and then jack the price up, the MRSP for a base stock model 883 is $7999 same as the Bolt, good luck finding a 883 for that price though, heck, paint can even add $300 to the price. and of course, add on another $1000 for tax, title and frieight/unpacking

I think the Bolt is sweet- lighter, faster, better suspension and less money than the Sporty. The smart play is to buy a used one in a year or two that has depreciated...

OTOH, there is no shortage of nice used Sportsters on the market either.
