Difference In Years Of Savage For Parts?

Is there any actual difference for parts dependig on the year of your Savage?  I've noticed when just browsing through parts on eBay and it seems my Savage, the 1998 model, is rarely, if ever, shown.  It'll show that the items will work with a 1996, 1999, etc. model but not the 1998 one.  Was there a major change in the years or something?  I'm confused!   :'(

Im not 100% sure with the differences if there are any but I have a few parts from a 2001(clutch lever, and a clutch basket) on my 87,both bolted right up like the originals. The body parts are pretty much interchangeable. A couple of differences Ive noticed are that from 1993 on, the savage uses a 5 speed transmission as opposed to my bike that uses a 4 speed. Also, I think when they switched transmissions they changed the dashboard light configurations around a little ( the turn signals are green arrows instead of an amber light at the top center that says TURN and the neutral light is at the bottom left of the speedo) and one more thing is  in 2005 when Suzuki switched to the S40 Boulevard name, the backrest was eliminated and the seat was changed from a 2 piece seat to a 1 piece seat. There may or may not be subtle differences on internals.... Hope this helps. Smiley

there are a few differences, but most parts are the same.
best to look at the part you want and compare with what you got.
be sure to check any electrical connectors and switches.
and if you're not sure... ask.

Most of the changes have to do with the changes in the lines of other bikes.  For example, the Marauder ended in 2004, and the switch controls and turn signals (shared with that bike and the Intruder) changed at about that time.
