Backpack Melted to Exhaust Pipe

My wife let her backpack hit the exhaust and it left some burnt plastic- like residue on the pipe. Any recommendations for safely getting it off? Thanks in advance.

Yep, I did it with a jacket in week 3. I finally used the easy-off method from the site but I think that I clouded up the pipe using cardboard. Can't tell if the clouding came from another source.

Best method I found (after screwing up the chrome by using a pot scrubber) is to use a nickle coin to scrape it off. Works well, doesn't scratch the chrome.

Faultless Hot Iron Cleaner
Ride it, get it HOT.
Jump off, put some goop on a folded over clean terry cloth rag, scrub away.  Repeat.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

If you go to the Technical Section, and look at the Index.....you can find the previous discussion about this.

I did this as well, i rode the bike for a while to get the exhaust hot again, and i was able ti wipe off the melted plastic with a paper towel, then just used some of that stuff "goo gone" and some wd40 and it was good as new.

First have your wife remove one strap of the backpack from her shoulder, then remove the other strap.
