I would recommend that you force yourself, to ride 65mph for a good while... (your hearing will adjust to the tone)...
48 to 50mph in 5th gear, is barely loping along...(any lower in 5th, and you are verging on lugging the engine)...
The sound changes, from a putt to hum,... but this not indicative of any engine strain... a stock Savage is perfectly happy at 65mph...
Relax yer' sphincter... Ooooommm...

PS.. I converted to 454ltd front pulley,(2 extra cogs) and changed back, because I didn't like the wider spacing on all the other gears...
That's just a personal preference...
I felt like had to wind out every gear too far to reach the next one... it felt like the bike was having to work harder, for how I ride...
