Funny main jet...
04/16/13 at 11:17:23

Hi all!

So, I'v bought my Savage last summer and did some mods to it this winter...
I changed the exhaust to a Raask dragpipe and the air filter to a KN box one.

After this, everytime i roll of the throttle, it backfires. But when I pull out the choke, it doesn't.
So that makes me think it might be running lean.

I've picked up some main jets today, but they look a bit different than the one already in there.

Could it be a jet kit or what do you guys think?

The one in there is a 125, which I think is a bit small, as they run a 130 stock.

Any help appreciated  Smiley

First the main jet that was in the carb:

Then compared to the new one in the bag:

You got the small round instead of the large round. Those are incorrect jets.

The new jet you got is the wrong one... it's for a vm carb.

Euro carb's have different numbers I think but also your carb could have restrictors on it for power.

Thanks for the answers!

As far as I know, there is no restriction on the carb. I guess they are just the wrong jets...
I'll take the right one with me tomorrow to the dealer, so I get the right ones..

What about that KN filter?
I've heard some people say, the Savy will never run properly with it.
Any truth in this?

If this means you have the K&N in the stock air box...

the air filter to a KN box one.

That's what I run, and it runs fine.

Yes, it's in the stock air box.
I'll try and leave it in there when I start re-jetting.

From the pic Coaxial showed, it looks like both types of jet's will work, is this correct?

I got that from the companion CD.
Perhaps but I would error on the safe side and grab the proper sized main jet.
