Five things needed to install fork seals

Here are the 5 things that made replacing the seals a snap. Some of these ideas are in the forum in different places, thought I would put it all in one post to make it easier for the next guy (or girl) looking for help with seal replacement.

1)  Damper removal tool posted by sillydilly. I adapted this and used 2' of 5/8"x11 threaded rod with two nuts on each end. Worked slick.

2)  2' piece of 1-1/2" pvc, Gyrobob's post. Great idea! Drove the bushings back in and seated the seals perfectly.

3)  8mm long shank hex bit shown in photo, needed to reach the bolt holding the damper in. (don't lose the copper washer)

4)  Quart of fresh Dextron ATF (or 15w fork oil if you prefer. Clymers say's to use either)

5)  New seals! and anything else that breaks or looks like it needs replacing.

For step by step info click on the Table of contents with links and slide down to Front Suspension & Steering. All kinds of good info in there. Hope this helps. Smiley
