Rear/tail light - straight fit(?)
04/08/13 at 01:15:54
First post here - I will make a formal introduction once my bike is put together - parts are still in the painting process
For now, I am hoping someone can enlighted me about which (if any) alternatives we have for rear/tail lights. It must be a straight fit (no drilling) on the original placement.
Happy riding

All tins are still in the painting process. Rear fender needs a new sleeker rear/tail light:

Welcome Remeber2! I like the Red,White & Blue paint scheme looking forward to seeing the bike put together.
As for the tail light I can't help with a direct fit replacement since I went for an under the fender cat's eye myself, but I'm sure other's will be able to offer suggestions

Only direct fit are Savage and 800 Intruder. Emgo has a few that are close, but you'll end up filing the paired fender holes out a bit (elliptical) and then need a small trim plug for the rearmost hole. Take a look at the offerings on Dime City Cycle's website, Low Brow Customs website and J&P Cycles website. Find one that you like, and when you get it, a triple layer of heavy painters tape will allow you to drill new or enlarge your current mounting holes with minimal damage.

Thank you - more suggestions are welcome of course
Btw - the tins appear too dark on the picture. Template below is closer to true color.
Overall the bike will be painted as the old "Gulf Oil"-motorsports design from the 60/70'ties, with airbrushed flames and logos.
More on that later... for now, a new tail light is one of the few missing pieces
