I like the parachute cord type laces for when I replace them in my shoes and boots that use them.  That type lasts a long time.

Gator fishing cord. AKA parachute cord.

Or if you are old, crippled or lazy like me, buy slip ons. Steel toed jack boots...

In 13 or 14 EEE (depends on the brand) $180 and up. But they last for decades and are rebuildable if you buy a good brand (no Chi-com imports). Mine are Chippewa brand.

Price varies with the size. And the height of the uppers, mine are 15" tops. About $300...

I used to have a pair of tall engineer slip on boots. They always made my legs sweat in the summer (winter too, come to think of it). Do the Chippewa boots do anything different to prevent that?

I quit buying Red Wing work boots a few years ago. Everything was fine for a long time and I kept purchasing the same model each time. Then they changed it. Still made in the uSA but it was carp. I exchanged them 3 times in one year and instead of doing it a fourth time, I went elsewhere. Shame really.

I don't know, don't pay attention to it, plus, they are jack boots, pants are tucked in...

Most of my boots are Chippewa, White's or Georgia brands. USA made only. And all Goodyear welt, I can dissolve a glued seam sole in a month.

Grin I think the Tennesee humidity might have something to do with that. I fear I have become too acustomed to the semi-arid weather.

RedWings have a good warranty and are about as tough as you can find, wore them when I was a roustabout on a off shore drilling rig in the Gulf. I had a set of slipons with steel toes and beat the snot out of them. If your feet sweat wear heavier socks and go a 1/2 size larger, when it is hot there isn't much that can be done about sweating feetin boots. I've the same problem and will go through 2 pair of socks a day. How about getting some mil surplus vented boots to help keep your feet cool.

I bought a pair of RedWings a few years ago. The guy gives me the old line "You gotta break them in before they get comfortable." Right. Six months later my feet would still be in pain after I took them off. Worst boots I ever owned. Herman Survivors are all I wear.

I got a pair of Danner hiking boots. 1.5 years and they are still in great shape. I got some Kevlar laces when the original laces wore out. 6 months and no sign of wear.
