So I finally got around to removing the "Top Covers" those big chrome pieces from the top of the engine. I've seen alot of pics of bikes with them removed and I realy like the more classic look. Well what I've never seen is a pic of the left hand side close up with the cover off, after all the bike is usually on the side stand and you typically see pics of the right hand side.

Well as much as I love the look of the right side without the top cover I disslike the left side..... Sad   The decompressor assembly doesn't bother me, but those big gaping holes look...well... unfinished. Most likely why they have those big chrome covers  Roll Eyes  So I figured I'd make something not as big as the original covers to fill in the area.

Right side without cover, looks old school cool to me  Wink

Left side.....Uggg not so much  Huh

So here's a look at the mounting plate which is almost finished  Cheesy

Should look something like this when finished  Wink

It's still a chrome shiny bit, put on to "make it prettier." If you think it looks better, go for it.

I definitely like mine better without the covers but mine doesn't look that good - it's silver.
