Kill? I doubt it but you might have a pronounced limp for awhile.

Good hunting

Toesnose, if you like it and it's more or less within budget, buy it enjoy it, and don't worry about what others think. You are only on the planet once.

Yeah...and that was all done by hand!  My '73 R75/5 was hand striped.  I miss it  :'(

Boy oh boy, does that restored plunger frame bring back memories... of sliding down the road on the front half of the chassis after the driveshaft and transmission grenaded.  Grin

I should have done some more work to it before I rode it. It had sat from 1961 until 1992, rotting away under a tarp in some old coots chicken shed.

The pic of the 1941 R12 did inspire me to go pull the ancient boxer twin engine out of the creek today. No idea what it is, has a combination generator/plunger operated electric starter, Tillotson 1bbl down draft carburetor, car type flywheel, transmission bolts on like an old top loader (have not found the trans yet)... and it has strange manifolds, BMW are 1 into 1, this one has 2 into 1 intake and exhaust. Only identifier is an L inside a shield on the cast iron fuel pump drive housing...

Toes, come get it and make yourself a 1/2 scale R series...  Wink

The one for sale ain't that pretty. It needs resto. And it ain't cheap!!

The real pretty one in front of the garage door? Well after telling us all that went into the restoration & finding & getting shipped those parts from all over the world.......I don't have the $$$$ or patience to do a correct resto...

When I asked how much it cost him his only answer was  "a lot". Looking at his house & vehicles & the fact that I was buying a $500 pet door from him for $250, that could easily have meant $50k.
That simple black paint job w/stripes was almost $2k. That one is show qaulity & runs perfect! And the owner rides it! It was real sweeeeeet! Cool

IT'S ALSO NSF!!!! Sad Shocked Cool

Don't know. The engine hasn't been cleaned off enough yet to look for any numbers, the only clean ares are the fuel pump and the face of the carb. It's on a section of hollow log for a good pressure cleaning.

Early BMW style manifolds, has a distributor with rotor still in it, Harley XA style head bolt pattern and finning. Can't find anything similar in mc, tractor, aviation or even micro-car uses so far.

Hey WD thanks for the offer!! If I was closer I'd take you up on that  Wink

Well I sat down with my buddy John who does serious auto & bike restorations after he contacted the seller in Maine, after going over everything that the bike needs (which is everything pretty much LOL) It just doesn't seem like a viable restoration project.  It's such a great piece of bike history that I wouldn't want to just make it "ridable" it's the type of bike that deserves to be brought back to it's former glory or displayed "as is" where people can see it and appreciate it.

Maybe I'll just find a nice Royal Enfield to restore  Roll Eyes

Oh and here's one of John's current projects   Cheesy
