Im back

well actually my son will be a Savage owner today. Found an 01 with 12000 miles for 1000.
The bike is in nice shape but has been sitting since 08. It does not run. I need to clean the carb. Any advice for doing this would be great.

Thanks

Door edge trim from the auto parts store. Cheap way to off set the traditionally unfinished look of Japanese fenders and the silly tank base seam that the factories are too cheap to roll under where it belongs.

Yup did that with my 1300r vtx, but this front fender seems a bit "thick" in places even with the glue that comes inside it, might not stick.
Does add a nice touch to some paint schemes tho...

so we picked up the bike last night and its all there and pretty clean. Ended up at 950 and the guy included a Jardine slip on and service manual. I think we did well if it runs. LOL. Hopefully Ill get is running tonight after work.

Bike runs great. The Jardine sounds great. We did encounter the dreaded petcock issue, but we did the two plug/prime trick and it fired right up.

When you service the carb, you don't need
To soak the parts.

Also it is easy to strip the screws so
Get a impact driver. They are less that
$5 at harbor frieght.

The clymer has an excellent section
On cleaning the carb.

Thanks Jay

Yea we didnt soak the parts. Just took it apart, cleaned and reassembled. no issues. I have the Clymer.

Fresh oil this morning and it should be ready to go. i took it for a ride last night and I have to say that I forgot how fun these little bikes are.
My son was all smiles!
