Soooooo iching to pull the trigger
03/24/13 at 16:22:55

I like my savage.. and it isnt going anywhere.... but there is a triumph Legend tt 900 for sale local. Got all the goodies, adult owned (in fact its the heart attack causing him to sell) $2000 for a 2001 model. Needs new seat ( hail storm) and tune up.

Can I get some comments from the gallery? Use of this would be longer rides, where I just dont feel comfortable on the at interstate speeds. Savage would be my commuter bike where it really shines.

In the interest of full disclosure;  I have a real soft spot for Triumph's retro styled bikes. I've been lusting after a new Bonneville for quite a while.

I'm not familiar with the Legend - I had do a search to see some pictures and read some reviews. But my totally uniformed opinion - and since it's your money- is hell yes. I think you should buy it.

Did that help? Smiley

Buy a 2 cyl triumph. A bonnie america from the early 00's or the FI after 2008 (yes looks like it has a carb but is FI).
I've ridden both, and seen a legend up close for a number of years cos a co worker had one. You want 2 cyl.

Cool.

I had a heart attack 15 years ago.  I had a triple bypass 3 years ago, and a stroke to boot.  A heart attack is NOT a cause to sell a motorcycle.  (knees is different, hence the Vespa)  I would buy a different bike, I don't like people giving me bogus information.

I had 2 heart attacks in 1 year 3 years ago myself, and I still have heart issues, that are enough of an issue the dr's put me on disability, but it hasn't stopped me from riding at all,  I just have to be more careful when choosing to ride in the full summer heat during the hottest months of the year here in TX.

Wife had both knees replaced 18 months ago, passed MSF course 1 week ago. Get new knees. Cool

Might be a dumb question, but what the heck difference does it make if the guy said he was sellin' the bike 'cause he had a heart attack, as long as the bike is in good shape, Pine likes it, and the price is right?
Pine's lookin' for a motorcycle - he's not paying the guys health insurance. People selling stuff say all kinds of stuff. Sometimes the stuff they say is even true. Smiley

I've owned a Thunderbird Triple in the past, it's a fun bike, the Ledgend is a lot like that so if it turns out to be in decent shape and you don't have to put money in it, much, then BUY it and have FUN!  Grin

PS: Also owned the orginal "cafe" Speed Triple (1995) now that was a haul'in bunns machine! Cool

It doesn't matter. Just bored, I guess.

Anybody want to hear about the 2800 h.p. twin turbo Camaro that I saw run 250 mph in 1 mile from a standing start, or the Ford GT that ran 267.6 mph to set a new record for the Texas Mile? I didn't think so.

None of the real heavy hitter 'Busas showed up this time so about the most they went is mid 220s.

Oh, buy the bike. In the scheme of things, 2k ain't a lot, although I'd try to get it for less. Life is short, do what makes you happen if it doesn't hurt anyone. Cool

Now that sounds like fun RidgeRunner,  I would love to take a joy ride in either of those machines.

Google "Texas Mile" & check them out on Facebook. Made it up on Friday & Saturday but skipped today due to wife not liking to ride with me pulling trailer 65+ with 30-35+ wind gusts. I was tired anyway, getting old sucks. Two passes to the Mile, best $40 I spent all weekend, great birthday presents for wifes b-day (25th) & mine (4-2).

Offer the guy $1500 for the bike. He might just take it. Not a lot of people will be jumping to buy a bike that age with a limited dealer network. Cool

That's a consideration that hadn't occured to me. No dealers nearby might be an issue. I've got TWO Triumph dealers within 30 miles, so I didn't think of that.

Actually this is a second owner bike, from the local Triumph dealer. First owner traded it back to the dealer, second owner then bought it from the dealer. The second owner has only used the dealer for service.. and he thinks the first owner did as well. Like many things in this state.. either your popular or your not. Most people, will only consider the top dog on the list without regard to any other facts. hehe with the internet I have used that to my benefit many times.

http://www.triumphmotorcycledealer.com/

Actually this dealership is much closer to the house and work than the local Suzuki dealer.  Both dealerships.. seem to be an "also run" meaning they are pretty low key operations, no high pressure sales. Very "mom and pop" type places. This is stark constrast to the Honda/Yamaha dealership which is a "megastore" with a heavy emphasis on large expensive cruisers, and much more in tune with folks with lots of cash and not much else.

Thanks all. It was too cold to ride the bike to work.. but I put my helmet in the truck... so I may try and test the bike out tonight.. if not then some time this week.

If you do decide to go for it please report back once you get a chance to put on some miles. I'd like to hear your impressions.
