A dealership in Lincoln, NE has one for sale. This is the link. http://www.starcitymotorsports.com/2005SuzukiS40---LS650P-inventory.htm?id=40...
This dealership has a fixed and non-negotiable "doc fee" of about $160 added to their price. Every so often they get a used one, and they typically ask well over $3K for it. A month or so later, it is gone. Yet, when I ask $2500 for my '07, no one even tries to counter offer. I simply don't understand.

Edited to add: Actually, I think I may understand part of it. People go into dealerships with the idea that they might actually buy a motorcycle. They wander around and see the prices, then gravitate to the S40, which even at dealership pricing is still about the least expensive "real motorcycle" in the place. They have usually already decided a mere 250 isn't a "real motorcycle" so the 650 cc S40 looks pretty good. They also figure the dealership has checked the machine so it won't have any problems for a while, and at the same time figure a private owner is trying to unload problems.

And after reading all these prices, I think I got a good deal on my S40 which I have had for a week.  A 2009 with 182 miles and I paid $2750 from a private owner who had it on C-List!!!

Salesman that sold me my last S40 said he'd be getting some in a couple of weeks and hopefully they won't all sell before I'm ready to buy. I'd prefer to buy new, and I still think the S40 would be best for me since I want my next bike to be simple and light. After looking at all the other bikes I like, the only other bike I would consider is the (not so simple) Moto Guzzi v7 Stone - cost is similar to the Yamaha Bolt, but weight of bike is pretty close to the S40...I think the v7 only weighs about 20lbs more. And the Bolt weighs over 500.

Found a new 2011 blue/white S40 priced for $4,399.00 that I'm going to look at in 3 days during my vacation time. It's 223 miles away, but it is exactly in the area where I had already been planning to spend some of my vacation. If I don't buy, it won't be a wasted trip - should strap down in the back of my Nissan truck if I do decide to buy.  Smiley

For you or anyone else considering the Royal Enfield as a substitute, do not even buy that bike before you test ride it.  I did last year and for the first 10 minutes riding down the city streets I was thinking nice bike but then I got it up to freeway speed.  Handlebars vibrated so badly after 50-55 mph that my hands were going numb before I got back to the dealer.  For only around town speeds it's great.  On the freeway would be agony for going any more than one exit.

The 2011 that I went to look at sold on Saturday, but they just got a 2013 S40 in for $5,699 - didn't buy it. Had a new 2012 Boulevard C50 that was discounted about a thousand. My total OTD price for the C50 was $7,098.78 and I won't pick it up until next Tuesday (next day off) since it was raining today and I didn't have my riding gear with me.

 Angry

Glad I stayed with a Suzuki, and that I was able to get the 2012 with the whitewall tires and metal studs on the seat.

This is just a "search" photo, but I'll post real photos next week.
