ditch the head temp sensor and get the water temp sensor and adapter M14x1.25 and use it as and oil temp sensor. That's what I did, and it works great

I'm trying one of these as a oil temp gage...

The cable is a little short as I've attached it to the forward facing oil port.
The 14mm size fits tightly on the plug.

Even on a cold morning it's reading 197°F and 209°F on the way home.

I got an M12 under the head bolt next to and forward of the sparkplug and it's reading 270/280°F
