Making it HER own!

Since my wife is learning to ride the Savage is becoming hers. So I've gone back to work to make it more comfortable for her. With this in mind, I've moved the kickstand back to its' oem position, added a heel shifter & a luggage rack. i've changed out the seat & passenger backrest.

Next to do is a windshield & triple trumpet air horns. The goal is to get it where she will be able to use it to go to work & her other activities around the island. It is already set up for saddlbags & I may add a trunk later. Whatever Momma wants, Momma gets!!

Once all the mods are done, it will be painted any color she chooses.....

Not a very good picture of the triple trumpet air horns, I will try to get a better one tomorrow. Cool

Digger, the only thing I know about the luggage rack is it had BMW stamped on it. My friend Ken found it cleaning out his garage & started to throw it in the scrap pile. Then he thought of me! A little cutting & reshaping, 4 holes drilled & tapped, & it looks like it was made for a Savage.

TN, I've owned several buses through the years. Here are a couple of pictures of the one I use now. One when I got it, another as it looks now.

I used it for pulling my race car.

Dude.. you and like 2 other peeps in the world would have said Capri... everyone else... Mustang.

My Mom had a '79 Capri with the V6. White with Red strips and a red interior. I busted (shattered) the nylon teeth on the timing gear one very cold morning in my eagerness to warm up the engine. Who knew that plastic gears dont like 3000 rpm on very cold mornings first thing?

The seat is from my V-Star 950. I posted earlier on how easy it was to modify to fit the oem mounts.

Hate to break it to you but that is a ..........Mustang.  I cut the center posts out & 'drooped' the nose a little when I built it. There's video of my last race on U-tube under PappyGT13. I was leading the points when a poor attempt at blocking caused a wreck injuring my neck & ending my racing for now. Sad Cool

The final mods.

I'm getting down to the last mods to make the Savage more usable for my wife. I added my 950 w/s after making the brackets for the backside & mounting. Stuck the saddlebags back on & she's ready except for paint. Now she just needs to ride it some to see if everything suits her...

Brackets & mounts for w/s.

Mounted Savage helmet lock to the luggage rack.

Set up like this she should be able to use it to go to work & run a lot of her around the island errands. If it works out, I'll get a trunk to mount to the luggage rack for her.

With how old that pic looks, I was definitely NOT expecting to see the white NYS plate on there.
