Emissions canister bracket/shelf question
02/07/13 at 20:47:06
It's me again. I was going to do the mini battery install mod with the small AGM battery mounted on the "emissions canister bracket." Looks like it would work but there is some extra stuff attached to the bracket that I don’t think I need. There is a rod welded to a plate that has holes in it for something. Can I just cut it off since I don’t see what it does?
Thanks,

I may be totally wrong (wouldn't be the first time
), but isn't that the muffler mount?

Yeah, that's the muffler bracket. You don't want to get rid of that.

Thanks for the info. I just picked up a high pipe today at Ryca so I won't be needing the muffler mount. If I cut it off it will look rather "unfinished" so I think I'll just make a whole new battery box instead.
Have to make a box for the battery anyway. Why not just make it all one piece omit the canister bracket and pick up the mounting holes in the frame? There isn't much clearance between the top of the battery and the frame if one uses the emissions canister bracket. I'll make another one that drops the battery down a half inch or so. Will get a chance to try out my HF brake.
BTW, the high pipe from Ryca is a work of art. Great polishing and chrome work. Can't wait to install it.
