Red lenses for turn signals
02/02/13 at 18:25:27

Does anyone know where to get red lenses for the front and rear turn signals? I have a 2002 if that makes a difference. I don't want to install different ones as I like the way these look. Especially after removing the rubber things.

You can't have red lights facing forwards.

I don't want forward facing red lights. I want lenses that fit the front or rear turn signals.

You could always go with clear lenses, and red bulbs? Undecided

I think you will struggle to get clear or red lenses if you want to use the original indicators.

I am finding that to be the case.

Since turn signals aren't even required here in TN... right now i have stock fronts (that don't work) and no rear ones. If my paycheck ever gets here I'm gong to see if I can find any interesting ones to put on. Drug the bike back out of the barn this evening and starting looking at the harness overhaul (again). Need some braid covered wires, had forgotten how ugly (and lightweight) the stock wires are. No wonder the charging system is a farce... micro gauge wires get hot, resistance goes up...

Back on track... for an S40 compare your lenses to S50 or S83 ones. THOSE you'll occasionally stumble across a set of red rears for. For an LS650 check VS700/750/800/1400, same lens, different buckets.

ts are 21 watts x 2 =42w=less than 4 amps  14ga wire is rated for 15 amps

TC, the middle run of the harness on mine is 18 or 20 gauge, 14 gauge from the frame to the buckets. Spliced and taped by the factory, no heat shrink, barely any solder... but lots of bubbled insulation where the gauge changes. The headlight harness is mostly the right size, ignition and reg/rec wiring is full sized (except the switch box runs, most of which have gone poof).
