Uncle......
01/17/13 at 16:33:19

Mercy, As I approached my 6th decade on this planet, I felt in coming. YEP, I hate being right. The flu took a direct hit on me scrubbing all the plans my wife made to celebrate (yesterday,Wednesday). I pray this is not a foretelling of my years ahead..... Angry
I'd appreciate any juice you guys want to offer up to whatever spirit floats your boat, Lord knows this old body could use a dash of mothering right about now.... thanks!

Sumtin tells me if I tried your remedy, others will get sick....for surely I'd have to post a pix of me riding in my leopard skin (fishnet) speedos as testimony to your cure, doctor.

Get some quality vit. C and take 4-5000 mg daily along with the zinc
I use a special mix of vit. C and am able to take almost 20,000 mg daily.
I got a tiny bit of a stuffy nose for half a day when the rest of my kids & grands were all sick with the plague.

That vitamin C isn't bad stuff, just make sure that the rum or brandy or whatever doesn't cancel it out

Nothing wrong with a hot toddy! Hot tea with a little bit of honey and whiskey (of your choosing) helps with headaches, sore throats, and upset stomachs. Drink plenty of fluids along with your vitamins and minerals.

Man, that Irish Flu Shot thing really hit home. I hadn't been ill enough to bring me down until I got sober. I swear, all that alcohol in my blood was a second line of defense. Fortunately orange juice replaced it. Any time I notice I'm starting to feel a bit under the weather I go get a half-gallon of OJ and slowly drink it throughout the day. When I wake up the next day I'm right as rain.

Sorry guys, but rest, fluids and treating some of the symptoms are as good as you can do with some added doctor care. My doctor IS Irish and doesn't want me to take antihistamines, because he wants me to blow that junk out. He does, however, have some wonderful, habit forming cough syrup. BTW the reason I said this is I took Zinc years ago and got severe stomach pain. Same with vitamins for me. Zinc has caused lawsuits in some who lose their sense of smell and taste. I should be 60 in April, but I refuse to get too worried by it. I've had back pain since 10th grade injury. I did slap a sprite 70 year old lady the other day after she said, "You're only as young as you feel."  Grin Laughter may prove to be the best, or nearly the best medicine. Just so happens "King of Queens" comes on about three times in a row just before I go to bed, so I'm good. I hope you all stay as well as possible and upright on the road.  Smiley

Florida's Natural brand OJ is my cure-all.
I pick up a jug and drink it in two or three days time. Sometimes for enjoyment, sometimes if I wake up with what could be the start of a sore throat, or even if everyone at work is sick. I already downed a jug and I'm one of three healthy people in a shop of two dozen.

My old philosophy was to treat my body like a dumpster and no virus would want to live there. A lot of vodka was involved.
