struts?
01/15/13 at 09:57:52
Im looking for some advice on some struts.. Does anyone know a good brand or company who makes some bolt on struts for my 04 650? Do biltwells work on a savage? Or even some progressive shocks or lowering shocks? I see them everywhere but they all always say for a sporty, just dont know if they'll work for my savage, and help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks..

well...you could probably just unscrew the spikes of contact the seller and see if he'd fab some up w/o for ya...
or, just measure what you want and make some... also, i think member denim has built several bikes with struts...

Actually when you read the details of the listing, that is for the base model without the spikes. $85 seems high for what they are, but the prior owner for my bike had them on there and they were heavy quality and good. I sold them to another member when I swapped to shocks instead.

Struts work, but a properly spec'd conversion rigid rear is better. Both systems have been used on Harleys and Brit twins for decades. A bolt on rigid, properly engineered, is as good as a true rigid frame. Struts, no matter how well made, always have something lacking.
And before anyone squawks about it, I've had a dozen different bikes with struts. Including a set for awhile on my Savage.

You're right there is a difference from struts to true rigid. But I think the 150 tire has alot to do with how mine ride. They have alot of sidewall.
